The first support tools that will help small and medium-sized businesses to overcome the barriers faced when recruiting and training apprentices have been approved. The partners met in Vienna last September at the Austrian Institute for Research and Vocational Education to validate the following tools:
• The Apprentice Welcome Pack that will help employers prepare for the induction of their apprentice;
• The Interview Checklist and Assessment template to help employers recruit the right person for their Apprenticeship position.
These will be made available as downloadable resources later this month on this website.
Thirteen project skills brokers, trained by Cornwall Marine Network, have also now been appointed and have started engaging with SMEs to provide an impartial, free service focused on identifying skills and training needs and offer solutions through apprenticeships.
To complete the training of the European skills brokers, a job shadowing session is taking place in Falmouth in Cornwall this October, where partners will get the opportunity to observe experienced skills brokers at work in cooperation with Cornish companies and learn through good practice examples.
Get in touch with your local skills brokers to receive a training need analysis and support with the recruitment of your apprentice:
